Busting Out

Can an unemployed, outta shape, part-time actress make it from Sacramento to Beverly Hills?

Can she bust out of small roles in small films in a small town and burst onto the big screen in Hollywood blockbusters?

What, are you kidding?

We're not talking about your garden variety starlet-wannabe...we're talking about the strikingly beautiful, deeply talented Paquita Estrada. We're talking about a sexy package of fire-in-the-belly ambition with acting chops to spare. And she's gonna let you come along for the ride!

Hang with Paquita as she whips it into shape, defies the skeptics and beats the odds. Ride along as she juggles jaded agents, two busy kids and a hungry husband, nasty bill collectors, horny casting directors and more. Tag along to early-morning auditions, late-night meetings and a River City full of tears. Watch her bob and weave between a whole universe of haters and players and hustlers. Grab your front-row seat as this local actress turns a truckload of rotten tomatoes into Hollywood gold.

A star is not just born...she's forged in the fires of Hell...and she'll either burn out beautifully or she'll blaze across the silver screen into stardom. Either way, you're not gonna want to miss this ride!

Mexican Voodoo in Sacramento?

Have you ever heard of Brujeria? Well, if you do, run in the opposite direction. Really. Nothing good is going to come from you hanging around a centuries-old cult of witchcraft that still flourishes right here in River City. That’s the lesson we learned while researching one of the spooky tales in our new feature film, “Quadrology of Horror”. The episode, called “Makin’ Bones” is about a simple but wicked gang initiation which turns into a night of terror as the barrio reveals its most grisly secret. Its author, award-winning screenwriter Rick Gonzales, won’t even discuss the creepy stuff he uncovered while digging through the murky background of this horrifying phenomenon.

Sexy, Scary...Funny?

Starlite Studios’ presents:

Haunted Travels with Jamie-Lynn Hazzard

Tag along with glamorous spookologist, Jamie-Lynn Hazzard, as she travels  ‘cross the country visiting some of the most ghost-ridden places in America; haunted houses, hotels, saloons, brothels…even a possessed firehouse. Stand by her side as she learns the macabre stories behind these shadowy spirits from actual people who’ve had close encounters of the chilling kind.  Hold the door for her as she steps into those fascinating places where the world of the living bumps into the world of the dead. You can even spend the night with Jamie-Lynn as she dares the ghostly beings to make a nocturnal appearance.

But don’t get too comfortable…she’s as restless as the spirits she visits and next week she’ll ride the rails to her next destination: another American town where the undead torment the living, to her next appointment with the spectral afterworld, to her next spooky experience in… Haunted Travels!

Poster Banned..."Too Disturbing"

(This is NOT the offending poster.)Sorry, but the web-masters made us take our poster down...they said its images were too graphic and too disturbing for the general public. We argued that they accurately portray the horrifying content found in all four stories that make up our new feature-length film, Quadrology of Horror. Each of the terrifying tales contains stomach-churning, nightmare-inducing imagery best suited to real connoisseurs of the genre. Think of Twilight Zone meets Tales from the Crypt with a little Rob Zombie thrown in and you'll get the general idea.

But stay tuned...we'll wait till the web police aren't looking and we'll sneak the poster up again. And watch for the trailer: you'll probably need a password to view it. And maybe a note from your doctor!

California Legalizes Suicide!

In the new film from Starlite Studios, "Interview With a Suicide," the great state of California has legalized suicide in a desperate effort to end the state budget crisis. Anyone who costs the state more than they're worth is encouraged to be a hero and check out early.

In San Francisco, an unhappy mortician's assistant decides to relieve the state of his burden and to shuffle off this mortal coil by his own hand. By law his death must be documented with a video interview, but when the pretty young film student shows up with her camera for the "exit interview," well...things get complicated.

Written and directed by Gary Nyland, the film stars Sean Kime and Stephanie Hyden. The Starlite Studios' production is bound for Sundance in 2012 but Northern California film lovers (especially those with a slightly morbid sense of humor/romance) might be able to catch a local screening this summer.

"Horror 101" - A New Feature-Length Thriller from Starlite Studios

Is it a bitchin' beach house at Spring Break?

 or

The bloodsoaked scene of the grisly "bikini murders"?

An eccentric movie producer offers his beach house to a group of film school students for their Spring Break vacation, but neglects to tell them about the blood-thirsty presence that lurks beneath the sand. Like many horror films, "Horror 101" features a bunch of good-looking, horny college kids trapped in an isolated, terrifying situation. Unlike most horror films, though, these young people are bright, capable and are highly aware of the corny cliches that befall most of the stupid and/or pitiful victims of creepy celluloid killers. So why do they keep getting slaughtered?

Filming is slated for Fall 2010 at an undisclosed location on the central coast. Actors wishing to audition are encouraged to be in "swimsuit" condition.

Unauthorized Photo from the Set of Sexbots!

This bootleg photo, showing un-named actors at work on the closed set of Starlite Studios' upcoming techno-porn expose, "The Secret Life of Sexbots" was somehow leaked to the press. Please help us to protect the anonimity of our brave robots who have sacrificed so much for this valuable (and titilating) documentary. Remember, robots are people, too (well, actually not...)

Interview with a Suicide photo shoot

Dane (Sean Kime) and Emily (Stef Hyden) pause in the deep shadows of an ancient crypt in Sacramento's Old City Cemetery. They are two lost souls pinballing through the new world order, where suicide is encouraged as a socially responsible solution to chronic over-population and broken hearts make the same sad sound they've made since the cemetery was shiny and new.
